How can I make my existing inventory look new?
With the current economic climate, I don't want to order a lot of new products, but I know how important it is to have merchandise look new. So how can I make what I have look fresh?
There are simple things you can do to spiff up your stores without spending money on new products! The key is to restyle what you already have in stock. Combine existing products in new ways, add a fresh color to the mix and tap into seasonal themes to make them "current." Grab a few home decor or fashion magazines and see what's new, fresh and trendy. Then, assemble products and props that you have on hand to re-create that look in a display. The combination of black and white solids and prints is HOT HOT HOT this season – and how simple is that?
Every store sells basics, whether it's fashion, kitchen and tabletop, or giftware and accessories. If you add the hot new color of the season in linens, candles, jewelry or a painted prop (such as a table or chair) to your tried-and-true basic lines, you've got a display of products that screams NEW! By adding a few seasonal accents in with basic lines, you show your customer how to get a fresh look at home – by adding only one or two new items right now. Think creatively, and inspire your customers to do the same.
