Seasonal Finds: Tiny Treasures on Display

Show off small products with a clever window-frame display.

Petite products are often lost among larger giftware and home decor in retail shops, so it's important to highlight small items with fun displays that draw the customer's eye. For a small-scale display that can be located almost anywhere, try this simple window-frame idea from Country Business stylist Nancy Borsodi. To create the display, you can start with premade decorative window frames, or you can make your own using unfinished wood frames like those available in craft stores. For her display, Nancy attached two rectangular frames together with a hinge, and then added gingerbread embellishments with hot glue. She painted all of the wood, let it dry, and then stapled screen to the back of the frames. With her display piece complete, she hung ornaments, jewelry and other light items from the screen with ornament hooks. A ledge on one of the frames left the perfect spot to set a few narrow items. Because she attached the frames with a hinge, Nancy can fold the frames together and set the display on a counter or cabinet. If you'd like to hang the display flat on a wall, attach picture hangers to the top two corners of the frames. For a standing display that's even more secure, set the frames on an easel or attach L-brackets underneath the frames.
